This is the first of its kind! It's an unimaginable flying start for India on the very first day of the Tokyo Olympics. Bagging the silver medal in the 49-Kg weightlifting category, Mirabai stands just next to Karanam Malleswari who won a bronze for India in 2000's Sydney Olympics.

Mirabai successfully lifted 84 kg in her first snatch and 87 kgs for her next. However, she failed to lift 89kg, falling short of 1kg. Yet, she has been succeeded in lifting a total of 202 kg (87kg + 115kg).
