Many directors who take up novel, experimental subjects and don’t taste monumental success at the box office, often blame the audiences’ tastes for the same. Yet, in most of his interviews with the media, it’s refreshing that Chandrasekhar Yeleti has been open about looking at his limitations and rather talked about how he enhanced the commercial appeal of his film Check that releases this week. At over 30 crores, this is his most expensive project to date after Sahasam.

“In every scene here, I’ve only tried to enhance the emotion and didn’t play any mind games. There’s a good interval bang and the film ends on a high. One would get to see an unexplored side to Nithiin in the film. The theme caters to all kinds of audiences. The character artistes Sai Chand and Sampath have given memorable performances. It’s slick and will keep the audiences guessing,” he said.

Yeleti has done only 6 films over 18 years and he has admitted that the commercial performances of his projects are a reason behind it. Yet, it’s appreciable that the director hasn’t grown resentful and haven’t let the quality of his projects suffer. His films enjoy a good shelf life and make for great home viewing on television and streaming platforms. The performance of Check will decide the scale at which he’ll make his film with Mythri Movie Makers next.
