Of late there has been criticism about Megastar Chiranjeevi showing interest in remakes. It is known that Chiranjeevi is set to star in the remake of Malyalam hit Lucifer and is showing interest in the remake of Tamil hit Vedalam.

It is know that Chiranjeevi scored mega hits with remakes. Few of them turned out to be bigger hits than the originals. Chiranjeevi starred in Chattaniki Kallu Levu in 1981. The film starred Madhavi Latha under the direction of SA Chandrasekhar. The film is a remake of Tamil hit Sattam Oru Iruttarai featuring Rajinikanth in the lead.

Chiranjeevi-Mohan Babu’s Patnam Vachina Pativratalu in 1982 was the remake of Tamil film Pattanakke Bandha Patniyaru. Chiranjeevi’s Vijetha in 1985 was a remake of Hindi hit Saheb starring Anil Kapoor. His Bollywood debut Pratibandh was the remake of Rajasekhar’s Ankusam.

Chiranjeevi’s hit film Pasivadi Pranam in 1987 was the remake of Malyalam hit Poovinnu Puthiya Punthenal starring Mammootty while Gharana Mogudu was the remake of Kannada film Anuraga Aritalu. Chiranjeevi’s Hitler was a remake of Mammootty’s Malyalam hit film of the same title. His film Sneham Kosam was the remake of Tamil film Natpukaga.

Chiranjeevi’s Tagore was the remake of Vijaykanth’s Tamil hit Ramana, while Shankar Dada MBBS was the remake of Bollywood hit Munnabhai MBBS starring Sanjay Dutt. His film Shankar Dada Zindabad is the remake of Bollywood film Lage Raho Munnabhai and his comeback film Khaidi No 150 is the remake of Tamil hit Katti starring Vijay.
