Popular lyricist Jonnavittala Ramalingeswara Rao landed in trouble when SC, ST atrocities case has been slapped on him. Telangana Mala Welfare Association State President Battula Ram Prasad lodged a complaint at Nampally Police Station alleging that Jonnavittala wrote a poem asking the Brahmins to reintroduce untouchability in the society.

He said his writings are hurting the sentiments of the SCs and STs. He demanded Jonnavittala to take back his words and issue an unconditional apology through social media.

Jonnavittala in the contest of COVID 19, wrote a poem praising the practice of untouchability by the brahmins. In his song, he said “The idea of keeping distance has become a mantra to ward off death. All other nations’ solutions have failed. The power of Indian culture has been manifested,”. He sang the same song and posted it on youtube channel Chamiraju News.

Police registered the case under section 3 (1) of Prevention of Atrocities Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act and 7 (1)(d) Prevention of Civil Rights Act.
