The extended lockdown to win the war against Coronavirus is leaving the owners of the theatres across the country staring at huge losses. Many feel that though the lockdown is temporary, this may result in the permanent shutdown of the theatres as stars and the film producers are getting fancy deals from OTT channels.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have around 1850 theatres that include even multiplexes. Producers of some films which are set for release are getting fancy amounts from OTT channels. While producers are happy with the deals, heroes feel that once they enter into such deals, they may become extinct among the hearts of the people.

He feels, however, the situation will change once regular shootings resume. He feels the situation is bad and many will be affected.

Kona Venkat says producers will lose money but the industry should support other people and he doesn't know what the good decision is. Suresh Babu says India has over 1000 theatres providing direct or indirect employment to around 5-6 lakh people. He says their situation will be difficult.
