Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s nephew Sai Dharam Tej with blessings of his uncles made entry in Tollywood with Rey produced and directed on grand scale by YVS Chowdary. The film got postponed numerous times owing to financial reasons and released as second film.
Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham released prior to Rey and turned out to be a super hit. But, Rey failed utterly at box office. The film was made on lavish budget and YVS Chowdary incurred heavy losses. He hasn’t done another film after Rey. Many felt it was a costly mistake of YVS to launch SDT with a mega budget film.
Now, it seems, Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaishnav Tej’s debut film is also turning out to be a costly affair for its producers. The film Uppena had delayed start and then it is progressing at a slow pace.
Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi was roped in to play antagonist and top technicians like Devi Sri Prasad are working for the film that also marks debut for director Buchi Babu Sana.
As per reports, producers of Mythri Movie Makers have already spent Rs 20 Crores on the project and still 30 days of shoot is left to wrap up production part. Including post-production activities, the complete budget will shoot up to 30 Cr+. Spending such heavy budget is definitely a costly mistake.
It is just debut film for Vaishnav Tej and buyers of course will not dare to invest big amounts on Uppena. Even if the film gets extreme positive talk, it is an impossible task to recover the budget.
Thus, Vaishnav Tej’s debut is becoming a costly affair like elder brother SDT’s!
