He Rejected Mahesh Film, Blank Cheque

Yesteryear star Sobhan Babu was known not only for his handsome looks but also for his realistic outlook about life. He was the only hero who retired from films after crossing the age of 60 years. Sobhan Babu used to have immense female fan following and endeared himself to all as Natabhushana.

Paruchuri Gopalakrishna speaking to scribes shared the greatness of Sobhan Babu. He said, “Shobhan Babu led a disciplined life which is an inspiration for many. We planned to cast Sobhan  Babu in a key role for Mahesh Babu's Athadu. However, Sobhan Babu already decided to retire from films."

Paruchuri continued, “We have sent a blank cheque to Sobhan Babu offering the role in the film. However Sobhan Babu didn’t get tempted but sent back the blank cheque."

Many predict that, Sobhan Babu was offered the role of Mahesh Babu’s grandfather in Athadu which was actually played in the film by Nasser.
