Praja Rajyam Party activists on Tuesday burnt the effigy of Congress party supporters and actor-duo Dr Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha for their reported comments that Prp collected huge funds for allotting tickets during the 2009 general elections.

The actor couple on Tuesday reiterated their comments against the Prp's ''show of social justice'' alleging that Prp leader K Chiranjeevi has corrupted politics with his money and muscle power.

Talking to mediapersons, Jeevitha said the Prp's road-show strength was generated by promising biriyani packets to the crowds. Dr Rajasekhar referred to several newspaper reports about Chiranjeevi's 'foot in the mouth' etc about his ideals.

The duo alleged that the blood banks run by Prp leader Chiranjeevi were doing brisk business and the cost of blood is exhorbitant at any point of time and not meant for the poor.

The artiste-couple also said the party which claimed to be doing ''social justice'' for the downtrodden class also auctioned its party tickets during the 2009 elections.

On Monday the couple alleged that many Prp ticket aspirants paid crores of rupees to the leadership and those who lost in the general elections are virtually on the streets.

Prp president Chiranjeevi on Monday challenged the comments at a press conference in Hyderabad stating that he would slice his tongue if some one proved that money was collected for allotting Prp tickets.

Taking exception to the comments, several Prp activists in Visakhapatnam and elsewhere resorted to dharnas and burning the effigies of the actor couple.
