It is wrong to read others' letters. More so, it will be a grave blunder if the writer or receiver is a woman. However, no wrong is meant when it is a public letter.

Here is a personal letter drafted by United Progressive Alliance chairperson Ms Sonia Gandhi to the Andhra Pradesh Information, Public Relations and Tourism Minister Dr.Geetha Reddy.

Sonia Gandhi's letter comes to Dr Geetha Reddy on Tuesday where the AICC president regretted her inability to make it to the 500th coronation festival of Vijayanagara King Sri Krishna Devaraya whose palatial structures at Hampi still stand mute testimony to the ravages of time.

Wishing the State Government function a great success, Sonia Gandhi said her busy schedules have come in the way thus preventing her from attending the historic function.

The month-long festivaI was inaugurated by President Pratibha Patel at Telugu Kala Thoranam in Hyderabad on Monday. Dr Pratibha Patil also unveiled a bronze statue of the popular ruler of the Vijayanagara empire here. It depicts Krishnadevaraya writing one of his works on palmyara leaves.

As part of the month-long programme, a specially decorated chariot will go round various places in the State. Cultural programmes, seminars and an exhibition of coins, inscriptions, artefacts and sculptures of the Krishnadevaraya era would be held at the State Archaeological gallery here.

The valedictory function would be held on August 8 at Penukonda.
