Talking to media persons at the Prp office in the posh Jubilee Hills area of the city after the party’s first foundation day function, the Prp chief said that the anti-people policies being adopted by the ruling Congress and the total negligence of the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will only help the Prp to win the seat.

The bypoll for the Tekkali Assembly segment is necessitated following the sudden demise of the sitting Congress MLA K Revathipathi, and the byelection is scheduled for September 10. The Prp has fielded Mr Duvvada Srinivas for the seat.

Mr Chiranjeevi said that the ruling Congress has miserably failed in raising to the expectations of the people of the State. “The people are now regretting for having elected the party to power. But the Prp will certainly not allow Congress Government in the State to rest till the problems of the people are resolved,” he added.

Inaugurating the Prp foundation day celebrations, Mr Chiranjeevi hoisted the party flag at the Prp office (Prp has completed one year on August 26). Addressing the party leaders later, he called upon the Prp functionaries to rededicate themselves to work for the welfare of the downtrodden sections of society.

He said that the people wanted a change in political setup in the State and on the desire of many of his well-wishers and the major sections of society in the State he took a plunge into politics. “We will now deeply study where we went wrong in reaching our destination. The loopholes will be plugged and every measure will be initiated to strengthen the party from the grassroots level,” he said.

Admitting that the Prp cadre are disappointed as the destination has not been reached, the Prp chief said that “henceforth, every possible step will be taken to win the confidence of the party workers and reinforce the hope among them.”  He told the party functionaries not to feel disheartened after some ‘vested interests’ had walked out of the Prp.

“Those who are instrumental in the foundation of the Prp are still with us. With the available leadership and the unstinted support from the cadre the Prp will continue its journey in fighting for the cause of the people,” he observed.

Several important leaders and hundreds of cadre participated in the foundation day function.  President of the Yuva Rajyam, the youth wing of the party,  Pawan Kalyan, and his brother Naga Babu also attended the programme.
