The State Government is committed to the welfare of labourers, Chief Minister K Rosaiah asserted on Saturday.Beneficiaries under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would be brought under the unorganised workers scheme this year onwards to enhance their social security, Rosaiah stated.

Participating at the May Day function at Ravindra Bharathi, Rosaiah said the families of labourers enrolled under the MG-NREGS would be paid a compensation of Rs two lakh in case of the death in a mishap and Rs one lakh in case of permanent disability.

In the event of the natural death, the family of the labourer would be paid an ex-gratia of Rs 30,000.He said the State Government has started insurance scheme for construction labourers as they work under great risk. The

government has identified 8 lakh construction workers and issued identity cards to 4 lakh workers.The Chief Minister presented 41 Shrama Shakti awards and 21 Best Management awards to the companies.
