Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Chief Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy took oath of office and secrecy at a grand public function at the IGMC Stadium in nearby Vijayawada, becoming the second chief minister of Andhra Pradesh after its bifurcation. Jagan was administered the oath by Governor ESL Narasimhan at 12:23 pm.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and DMK president MK Stalin also attended the function. Religious leaders from Hinduism, Islam and Christianity read prayers seeking bountiful rain.

'Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy ane nenu', as he starts his speech the crowd gives him a rousing response. He recalls his padayatra and thanks people for giving this mandate.

"As a chief minister, I give you one assurance, Nenu Vinnanu… Nenu Unnanu… (I am here to listen to you and realise your dreams)," saYs Jagan.

Thanking Tamil Nadu opposition leader MK Stalin for attending the function, Jagan wished him to become the Chief Minister of neighboring Tamil Nadu.

As is known, Jagan led his party to a resounding victory in the recent Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The YSR Congress won 151 of the 175 seats in the state Assembly and 22 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.

Only Ys Jagan took oath today and his council of ministers is expected to be sworn in on June 7.
