The Bharatiya Janata Party in a bid to put Congress in a tight spot, is planning to introduce a bill on Telangana in Parliament on Friday. The bill will be a private one. Though the bill is a private one, the Bjp is trying to corner the Congress party on the Telangana issue.
The Congress as a party is not in favour of formation of a separate Telangana at the present juncture. If Centre gives green signal for the formation of Telangana then all the credit for the formation of Telangana will go to Tealangana Rashtra Samiti, who spearheaded the agitation. In the next elections TRS is bound to sweep the polls in Telangana while Congress will lose its face. On the other hand in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions also the Congress will lose its ground for the fact the people of these regions are supporters of an integrated Andhra Pradesh.
Even in Greater Hyderabad most people do not want separate Telangana. It is for this reason that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti party did not fight in the GHMC polls last year.
If the Congress party does not yield to the formation of a separate Telangana then it would have its base in the Andhra, Rayalaseema and Greater Hyderabad region intact. Even in telangana also it may bag a few seats of the 13 MP Telangana constituencies.
