Speaker pulls up Danam for being 'harsh'

Assembly Speaker Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday pulled up Health Minister Danam Nagender for making harsh comments against Communist Party (Marx) MLA Julakanti Rangareddy during the question hour in the Assembly.

Taking a serious view on the comments made by the Minister while the CPM MLA was seeking answer on the lack of basic facilities at the Primary Health Centres in the state, the Speaker restrained him and directed him to answer to members’ questions in a more responsible way.

“If the Minister loses his cool while replying to member's questions in the august house what mare can the ordinary people expect,” the Speaker pointed out.

What seemed to irk the minister was the MLA's comparison of the state Government hospitals with those of the film, Munnabhai.

The Speaker also removed the minister’s comments from the Assembly records.
