Vaishnavi case: Identification parade held

Vijayawada, Feb 6: A parade was held at the Vijayawada sub-jail in the presence of the First Class Chief Magistrate on Saturday to identify the killers of Naga Vaishnavi and car driver Lakshmana Rao.Sai Tejesh, the lone witness in the case and brother of the 10-year-old victim Vaishnavi was brought to the sub-jail to identify M Srinivasa Rao and V Jagadish. Srinivas is the cousin of main accused Venkatrao who is absconding  since the sensational kidnap and murders took lace.Meanwhile, the police sought 10-day custody of Srinivasa Rao and Jagdish to extract more information from them on the motive behind the killings.

As no advocate came forward to argue on behalf of the accused, the legal cell was told to file a counter. The case was adjourned to Monday. Srinivasa Rao and Jagadish are accused of having assisted Venkatrao in the murders.Though Sai Tejesh is learnt to have identified the killers, police maintained a shroud of secrecy and refused to divulge any details to the media. Entry for media personnel was barred in the sub-jail.It is believed that the hardcore inmates in the sub-jail seemed to be scared at the callousness of the duo who showed no remorse for their actions, according to informed sources in the jail. The accused were lodged in separate independent cells.
