Police step up security Two lakh students to attend 'polikeka' in Warangal

Warangal, Feb 6: The district administration is sparing no effort to ensure the peaceful conduct of the proposed ‘polikeka’, a students’ meeting, at sports ground of Kakatiya University to be held on Feb 7.The meeting, to be organised by Kakatiya University Joint Action Committee is expected to draw over two lakh people from Telangana region as the JAC is making all-out efforts to mobilize large number of students.The High Court has allowed KU JAC to hold polikeka and laid down certain conditions for conducting the event.

The High Court had directed the KU JAC to ensure that only those possessing identity cards should be allowed to attend the meeting and that the organisers coordinate with the police to ensure its peaceful conduct.Speaking to INN, a KU JAC leader said that he expected over two lakh people to attend the meeting as the JAC's efforts to mobilise students is paying rich dividends.TRS MLA D Vinaya Bhaskar and other JAC leaders are overseeing arrangements for polikeka.

Police are making elaborate arrangements following directions from the High Court for the peaceful conduct of the event.Meanwhile the padayatra carried out by Telangana JAC aimed at attracting youth, farmers and women concluded in Warangal despite the imposition of section 144 in the town since Friday.Warangal DSP Venkateshwara Rao said that section 144 would continue to be in place up to Feb 8.
