Hyderabad,Dec 29: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday reviewed the law and order situation in the state in the wake of Telangana agitations getting hotter following the resignations of 13 of his ministerial colleagues. Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and Director General of Police R R Girish Kumar were present during the discussions at his residence.The Home Minister and the DGP explained to the Chief Minister about the prevailing situation in the state in view of the bandh call given by the Joint Action Committee of Osmania University students for Dec 30 to press for the separate statehood issue.

The DGP briefed the Chief Minister about the steps taken to maintain the law and order situation in the state. The meeting also focused on the steps to be taken to vacate the students from the Osmania University campus.The Chief Minister instructed the police personnel to act tough against those indulging in violence, arson and destruction of public and private properties in the name of agitation. He also appealed to the people to maintain calm and not resort to violence by taking the law into their hands. Additional Director General of Police A.K Khan, city Police Commissioner Prasada Rao and other officials attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, rallies, hunger strikes and demonstrations continued in Telangana region on Tuesday after the Joint Action Committee (JAC) intensified its agitation mounting pressure on the Centre on the separate statehood demand.The all-party JAC, including major parties like TDP and other outfits, have called for protest rallies across the region followed by a bandh for December 30 to press for the Telangana issue.
