Hyderabad, Dec 2: The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) founder president, Mr K Chiranjeevi, strongly feels betrayed by his partymen due to which he distanced himself from the cadre and grassroots level workers of the party.Probably this is for the first time that a soft-spoken Mr Chiranjeevi has come out openly against those who deserted him midway. “I feel betrayed by those whom I trusted well. Besides, during initial stages of the party’s formation I have taken into the party some non-entities,” he told media persons at the party office here.

He said that the gap between himself and the cadre and the grassroots-level workers has widened as he was ditched by all of these elements.  “I am deeply hurt by this and it is still haunting me. I could not win even people’s confidence and trust because of all this,” he explained. He even said that he had committed a blunder of giving important posts in the party to political novices and those who did not have any political knowledge.

“Those who did not have any awareness on politics were given important assignments. I now regret having done all this,” he said with a sense of remorse.Without naming the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the PRP president said that “two main political parties are unable to digest the growth of the PRP and are thus making every effort to see to it that my party does not gain any foothold in the State.” They are still continuing their efforts, he added.
