Kadapa,Dec 1: Mrs Vijaya Lakshmi,the widow of the former chief minister,the late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,on Tuesday filed her nomination papers for the Pulivendula Assembly bypoll.Accompanied by Dr K V P Ramachandra Rao,Rajya Sabha MP and a close aide of Dr Rajasekhara Reddy, and the Minister for Roads and Buildings Mrs Galla Aruna Kumari,the Kadapa MP and her son,Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy,Mrs Vijaya Lakshmi came in a large procession to the local Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) in Pulivendula and filed her nomination papers as the Congress nominee along with the B-Form issued to her by the party.


Hundreds of the Congress workers, including the sympathizers of the family of the late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, followed her in the procession.She entered the MRO office with folded hands wishing everyone in the building and filed her nomination.In view of the nomination process, the local police made elaborate security arrangements in the town. Armed guards were seen posted at every corner along the route the procession passed through.Mrs Vijaya Lakshmi’s election is likely to be unanimous as the main Opposition parties like the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) have already announced that they would not field any candidate while the Lok Satta and the Communists also might take a similar view.Pulivendula Assembly seat represented by the late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had fallen vacant as the leader died in a copter crash in Nallamalai Forests on September 2.
