Former minister K Jana Reddy on Saturday expressed confidence that the Congress alone would win the next Assembly elections and gift the first government of Telangana to AICC President Sonia Gandhi for giving statehood to the region.

Speaking to media persons after chairing a meeting with Telangana Congress leaders at his residence, Jana Reddy made it clear that the Congress party would not have alliance with any party, including the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, and would fight the elections alone. However, he said the T-Congress leaders would abide by the High Command's decision on having alliance with the TRS.

Jana Reddy said that the entire credit for giving statehood to Telangana goes to the Congress party and its leadership. He said that Sonia Gandhi fulfilled her promise despite facing severe criticism and putting the party's future at stake in Seemandhra region. He said no other party, including the TDP, would have gone to the extent that the Congress party did to give Telangana. He said despite supporting the Telangana demand by giving letters, both the TDP and YSRCP changed their stand and shifted the entire blame on the ruling party. He said that the Congress party played the lead role in Telangana formation while the TRS, employees unions, students and other organisations too have played their own roles.

Stating that he Congress High Command would announce two separate PCCs for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the next few days, Jana Reddy said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi would be invited for the massive thanksgiving public meetings being planned at Hyderabad and Warangal soon. He appealed to the people to vote for the Congress for granting statehood to the Telangana region.

It may be mentioned that Jana Reddy is likely to be made the PCC President for Telangana and he will lead a 10-member committee for the forthcoming general elections.
