TDP MLC N Rajkumari on Tuesday began her two-day hunger fast in protest against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to media persons after launching the fast, Rajkumari said that late NT Rama Rao had warned about 30 years ago that the Congress party was trying to damage the Telugu culture and divide Telugu speaking people. She said that NTR's prophecy came true today as the Congress-led UPA Government was dividing the State without the consent of Telugu speaking people.

Rajkumari said that the Centre was trying to clear Telangana Bill without giving any clarity on distribution of resources, infrastructure and other matters of high importance. She said that Congress party was trying to divide the State only for political gains.

Stating that she had informed N Chandrababu Naidu about her hunger fast, she claimed that Naidu had absolutely clarity on the Telangana issue.

Rajkumari wanted to undertake the fast before the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises. However, after being denied permission, she began her fast near the Telugu Desam Legislature Party office.
