Several statues of former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi were vandalised by the Samaikhyandhra activists at several places in Andhra and Rayalaseema region in protest against UPA's decisino to create Telangana.

Several activists, who went on rampage, targeted the statues of Congress Prime Ministers. While there were minor incidents of violent protest elsewhere in Seemandhra region, the activists created havoc in Anantapur district. Several statues were completely damaged in the police presence. They also tried more than once to set ablaze the Congress party's office. However, police foiled their attempts and resorted to lathicharge several times.
