New Delhi,Nov 7: The Chief Minister,K Rosaiah,on Saturday met the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram at his residence and submitted the flood damage report to him seeking liberal assistance from the Centre to execute relief and rescue operations in the flood ravaged districts in Krishna,Kurnool,Mahaboobnagar and Guntur.Later talking to media persons,the chief Minister said that the Home Minister was responded positively for granting liberal aid to the state.

It may be recalled that the recent rains and floods have caused large-scale devastation throughout the state and the worst affected places are Kurnool,Krishna, Mahbubnagar,and Guntur districts. More than 90 people have lost their lives and over 4 lakh people have been rendered homeless.Thousands of acres agricultural crops have been destroyed.According to preliminary estimates, the Chief Minister put the flood loss in the state at Rs 12,225crores.He urged the Union Minister to treat the disaster as a ‘national calamity of rare severity’ and release Rs6,000 crore as immediate assistance.
