Hyderabad, Nov 4: The Congress legislators, Mr Raji Reddy, Mr Bikshapathi Yadav and Mr Lakshma Reddy, on Wednesday expressed willingness to take upon themselves the onus of the success of the party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls if the party is ready to field the candidates selected by them.
“We will ensure the success of the party nominees if the Congress allots tickets to the candidates of our choice,” they told media persons here on Wednesday. Coming out of a prolonged meeting with the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Mr D Srinivas, they said that the party leadership has positively reacted to their suggestion.Attributing the delay in selection of the candidates to the large number of aspirants for party tickets, the legislators said that the list is being finalized. “The party has received huge number of applications from the local aspirants and the leadership is busy short listing the names. We are strictly going by the merit and winning chances of the candidates,” they said.About roping in the Kadapa MP, Mr Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, to campaign for the party in the GHMC polls, the Congress MLAs said that they would make a fervent appeal to Mr Jagan to take part in the campaign. “We are hopeful of his active participation in the polls,” they added.
