Hyderabad,Oct 31: The Congress candidates should sweep the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (Ghmc) elections and that would be the dream of the former chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, said Union Law Minister and Congress general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs M Veerappa Moily here on Saturday.Talking to media persons after having discussions with the Chief Minister K Rosaiah and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas and other senior party leaders on the strategy to be adopted for Ghmc elections,he said that even AICC president Sonia Gandhi also very much interested on the Ghmc elections.

He said the party candidates list would be released on November 2 and 3 and the party would select only "winning candidates" based on the performance of the candidates. The party wished to win a majority of the 150 wards in the Ghmc election,he said.Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas said that the Congress would go alone in the Ghmc elections.“The party would go alone in these elections without any tie-up with MIM,”he made it clear.He asked the leaders and cadre to take the coming elections to the Ghmc as a matter of prestige and ensure that the party continues its winning streak in the city and surrounding areas by bagging a majority of seats.

He hoped the Congress would win more than 70 per cent wards in the polls. He entrusted the selection of candidates to Ministers, local MLAs and senior leaders.The Ministers and MLAs would supervise the polling campaign in the areas, he added.
