The BJP leader informed that the dharna was being organised on the third anniversary of non-implementation of promise made by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram stating that the Centre would begin the process of formation of Telangana. He said the promise was repeated in both the Houses of Parliament. However, he said that the Centre has completely forgotten its promise which consequently led over 900 youth from the region to commit suicide.

Rajeshwara Rao said that Congress party was trying to cheat the people of the region again by announcing all-party meeting on December 28, according to a press release.
