Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh on Monday said that the Centre was likely take a decision on Telangana statehood issue six months before the 2014 general elections.

Talking to media persons at Secretariat, Venkatesh reminded that the subsequent governments at the Centre have announced crucial decisions only before the elections. He said that the Seemandhra leaders would go to New Delhi in the first week of October pressing for special financial package for backward areas development apart from discussing the Telangana issue.

Stating that there was no need to be afraid of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao staying in New Delhi and having consultations over the Telangana State issue, he said that the Seemandhra leaders would also appeal to government to keep the State united.
