No threat to KKR Government, claims Azad

Union Health Minister and in-charge of State Congress affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday claimed that there was no threat to the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government till 2014.

Talking to reporters while participating in the by-elections campaign in the district, Azad ruled out the reports of more Congress MLAs leaving the Congress party after the announcement of by-elections results. He said some MLAs who have quit the party were in touch with the YSR Congress party since a long time and their exit did not surprise anyone. However, he said that other MLAs would not resign from the Congress to join the YSRC.

Azad praised the performance of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and said that he has been efficiently implementing all welfare schemes of State and Central Governments. He advised the media not to link the by-elections with the continuance of the State Government. He said there was no threat, whatsoever, to the present government.

The Union Minister also accused a section of media of distorting his statement wherein he was quoted as saying that Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy would have become the Chief Minister if he would have stayed with the Congress party. He said since he made the statement in Hindi, the vernacular media misunderstood him. He said he only stated that Jagan would have gained political experience if he would have stayed with the Congress party.

Later, Azad participated in the road-shows in Allagadda constituency along with the Chief Minister, Rajya Sabha MP K Chiranjeevi, former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir and other senior leaders.
