Sunitha demands fresh probe into Paritala's murder case

The police on Wednesday arrested Telugu Desam Ratpadu MLA Paritala Sunitha for sitting in fast-unto-death at Ambedkar Statue in Anantapur district demanding re-opening of murder case of her husband and former Penugonda MLA Paritala Ravindra.

She has been alleging that her husband Paritala Ravindra was killed in 2005 at the behest of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy. However, the police took Sunitha into custody on the grounds that she did not take prior permission to stage hunger strike and Election Code of Conduct was in force in the district.

Sunitha told reporters that she has substantial evidence to prove her charges that YSR and Jaganmohan Reddy were involved in her husband's murder.  She demanded that the government re-open the case and order fresh probe into her husband's death.

Meanwhile the Telugu Desam activists, staged a dharna on the road before the TDP office in protest against Sunitha's arrest. They raised slogans against the police and the government. They said that the government was afraid of ordering probe into Paratala Ravi murder fearing defeat in the ensuing by-elections.
