A delegation of Telugu Desam Party MPs under the leadership of Nama Nageswara Rao on Wednesday called on the Chief Election Commissioner at the Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi and appealed to him to make complete efforts to check influence of money power in the ensuing by-elections for Kadapa Parliamentary and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.

Talking to media persons after submitting a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner, Mr Nageswara Rao said that the CEC had assured the delegation that he would follow up on the promise made by Chief Electoral Officer Bhawar Lal to send a special team to Kadapa and Pulivendula constituencies to monitor the flow of money during the campaigning.

Mr Nageshwar Rao further added that the CEC also promised to make efforts for protecting polling agents in the election booths.

He said that he had appealed to Election commission to initiate strong action against Sakshi newspaper and Sakshi television channel owned by former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy for publishing and launching anti-TDP campaign.
