The war of words between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Telugu Desam Party in the state became increasingly bitter on Monday after the Trs politburo members sought to defend their party chief from the verbal attack by TDP leaders earlier in the day.

Trs politburo members Karne Prabhakar and Jagadishwara Reddy stated that the TDP, which failed to initiate action against its own MLAs who resorted to cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections, has no moral right to criticize Trs president K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, the politburo members stated that the TDP leaders are resorting to baseless charges against the Trs to water down the Telangana agitation.

Condemning TDP MLA Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao’s statement demanding a CBI probe into KCR’s assets, they challenged TDP president Chandrababu Naidu to disclose his assets before and after assuming power in the state. They said KCR will be ready to declare his assets if Mr Chandrababu Naidu expresses willingness for a probe into his assets and agrees to an open discussion on the issue.

They asked Mr Umamaheswara Rao to think about his words before making baseless allegations against KCR.

They warned the TDP leader of serious consequences if he or his party colleagues continue with their tirade against their leader.

“The TDP, which was not in a position to secure deposits in Seemandhra and Telangana regions after adopting a dubious stand on bifurcation of statehood issue was resorting to baseless charges to divert the attention of people and to cover up its goof ups,” the Trs politburo members stated.
