Minister for Primary Education S Sailajanath on Friday stated that the leaders from Seemandhra regions would meet on Saturday to chalk out their future course of agitation on the issue of Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Mr Sailajanath stated that all MLAs and MLCs from the regions of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema would meet on Saturday after the Assembly Session to discuss the future strategy on how to ensure that the Centre does not bow down to the pressure tactics of pro-Telangana leaders and decides to keep the state integrated.

The Minister’s statement comes in the backdrop of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Telugu Desam Telangana Forum and Seemandhra MLAs staging dharnas and stalling proceedings in the state Assembly. The two sides are pressing for resolutions, one for the bifurcation and the other for status quo of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Sailajanath said the meeting would also discuss the Telangana MPs threats of resignations, the noncooperation agitation by Telangana employees and the proposed Millennium March scheduled for March 10.

The Minister said the meeting would also take a decision on resignation of elected representatives of the Seemandhra regions on the lines of Endowment Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao for the cause of Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh.

After the meeting, the elected representatives would submit a memorandum to Congress High Command stressing on the importance of maintaining status quo of Andhra Pradesh.
