Target T leaders for Telangana, not Seemandhra leaders: Kavuri

Condemning the bid by lawyers from Telangana Region to storm his residence at Banjara Hills earlier in the day, Congress MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao on Wednesday stated that he never made any anti-Telangana statements and only stressed for unification of state to protect the interests of the people from his region.

Talking to media persons at his residence, the MP said the Telangana people resorting to rallies, bandhs and storming the residences of people from other regions would not serve any purpose.

“Instead of storming the residences of people from other regions, the pro-Telangana agitators should storm the residences of leaders elected from Telangana and demand their resignation in support of a separate state formation. This would go a long way in fulfilling their long-pending dream. At least one MP from the region should resign to their post in support of T agitation,” Mr Sambhasiva Rao stated.

Stating that threatening people of other regions is ‘not good’, the MP said the Telangana state formation will not come by these types of pressure tactics.

“If the Telangana elected representative are really committed to fulfill the aspirations of the people, they can resign to their posts and mount pressure on Centre. The Seemandhra representatives are not obstructing the Telangana formation,” the MP stated.

Stating that Centre would take a decision on Telangana state formation, Mr Sambhasiva Rao said that, “I would abide by the Justice Srikrishna Committee recommendations.”

He said the Seemandhra people want the state to remain integrated and the leaders from those regions are representing their desires.

Reacting to Mr Sambhashiva Rao’s remarks, Telangana MP Gutta Sukhender and MLA Konda Surekha stated that they are ready to submit their resignations from their posts on Thursday and called for mass resignation of Telangana elected representatives.
