Describing the Congress as the ‘River Ganga,’ in which the sins of its cadre are cleansed, former minister JC Diwakar Reddy said that the party will retain its purity.

The former minister further said that like the Holy River Ganga, which cleans all sins of humanity, but does not lose its Holiness while doing so, the Congress will retain its purity and cleanse the image of the party workers.

Talking to media persons on the Assembly premises, Mr Diwakar Reddy described the Praja Rajyam Party merger with the Congress as a `good sign’ in the state politics and added that that the move would strengthen the Congress in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.

Reacting on corruption allegations which were leveled by PRP chief Chiranjeevi against former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, he expressed his surprise and said that, “I had never encouraged corruption during my stint as a Minister in YSR’s Cabinet, nor was I personally involved in anything illegal.”

Mr Diwakar Reddy said that the Court will look into corruption charges and take action against guilty.

When asked about his prospects of joining the Kiran Kumar Reddy government during any future Cabinet reshuffle, Mr Diwakar Reddy categorically said, “I will not join the Cabinet but work to strengthen the party.”

Reacting on Harita yatra launched by former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy for the cause of Polavaram, he said such type of yatras were need of hour and they would  create awareness on the need for the National Project status for Polavaram.

Reacting on a section of Congress MLAs going for Haritha yatra of Jagan, he said he saw nothing wrong in extending support for public cause.
