In what can best be described as a ‘volte-face’  Congress MLA from Secunderabad Jayasudha Kapoor on Saturday said that she strongly supports the ‘Jan Deeksha’ launched by former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to highlight the rising prices of essential commodities at Visakhapatnam.

Expressing regrets at her inability to attend the Jan Deeksha in person, Ms Jayasudha Kapoor said that she was not keeping well. She also said that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s protest had her full support. The film actress-turned-politician had earlier participated in Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s 48-hour mass hunger strike organized by him on the banks of River Krishna in Vijayawada on December 21 to demand a revised relief package for rain-hit farmers.

Later on January 1, Ms Jayasudha had met Congress Committee president D Srinivas and conveyed her New Year greetings to him. Talking to media persons that day at Gandhi Bhavan, she had denied that she was contemplating to leave the Congress and align herself with the yet to be announced party of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy. She had also emphasized that she is a member of the Congress party and will continue to be one.

She had also added that though she owes her loyalties to former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, she committed no wrong since YSR is an integral part of the Congress. Meanwhile, Tekkali MLA Korla Bharati also extended her support to Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and also said that she willing to resign when he launches his new party.
