Assuming charge for third time as Pradesh Congress Committee president at Gandhi Bhavan, D Srinivas on Monday thanked the Congress High Command for reposing confidence in him.

Talking to media persons after assuming charge, Mr Srinivas stated, “I am not new to this post and my responsibilities are the same. The problems are not new to me. We will solve all problems according to priority.”

Reacting on the demands for formation of Telangana state, Mr Srinivas hoped the Centre would come out with a concrete decision before the Budget Session of Parliament. Mr Srinivas said that the Centre will call an all-party meeting before the Budget Session to evolve a consensus on the controversial issue.

When the reporters asked his personal opinion on Telangana state issue, he said “there is no need to tell my personal opinion to you.” He also lashed out at the media for focusing on trivial issues with magnifying glass. He said that some media houses were creating sensationalism in the name of `breaking news’ to increase viewership for their channels.

When asked about what kind of action the High Command going to initiate on those leaders, who participated in the Jal Deeksha of former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr Srinivas said the serious action would be taken against them at an appropriate time.

When pointed out to the High Command’s moves to appease Congress leaders from Telangana by offering them Ministerial berths, the PCC chief said the Cabinet expansion is the prerogative of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. “You can pose this question to PM. I am no way concerned with the Union Cabinet expansion,” he stated.

He said the Congress Monitoring Committees will look into the execution of government schemes and take steps to reach the benefits of schemes to doorsteps of beneficiaries.

MLA Sudhir Reddy, MLCs Indrasena Reddy, Jagadishwar Reddy, Rudraraju Padmaraju, G Rudraraju and Ganga Bhavani were present in the programme.

No Telangana MP, MLA or MLC turned up for the programme.
