Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday sought the cooperation of the media and the opposition for implementation of the developmental programmes in the state.

Addressing his first press conference after being sworn in as the 16th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr KK Reddy also appealed to the Leader of the Opposition and Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu to extend his cooperation, setting aside party affiliations, as part of his intentions to give good and transparent government to the people.

Mr KK Reddy disclosed that Mr Naidu had spoken to him over phone for offering his greetings on his assumption of his office.

"My attempts will be to move with all sections, opposition, party Legislators, Councillors, party cadre. I seek their cooperation for the overall development of the state," he said.

The Chief Minister also disclosed that, "as many as 99 per cent of Congress MLAs met me," he said and added that he was always comfortable working with any leader.

When asked to comment on the about the Maoists' issue, Mr KK Reddy stated that the problem was not confined to AP alone. It was spread out in 13 to 14 states, he reminded.

Regarding the pending irrigation projects, the Chief Minister replied that he would also confer with the party MPs, MLAs and MLCs and seek their cooperation for speedy sanction of those projects from the centre.
