In a scathing counterattack, former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday condemned the statements made by Chief Minister K Rosaiah against him earlier in the day.

Condemning the personal attack by the Chief Minister in which he had accused Mr Naidu of backstabbing his own father-in-law NT Rama Rao and grabbing the Chief Minister’s chair, the TDP chief demanded that Mr Rosaiah tender an unconditional apology.

Talking to media persons at his residence, the Opposition leader alleged that the Chief Minister, who has failed ‘totally’ in all spheres of governance, was resorting to personal attacks instead of redressing the people’s problems.

He stated that, though the Opposition TDP was playing constructive role and helping the government, the Chief Minister has failed to provide requisite relief to flood victims.

The former chief minister pointed out that the Centre has released financial assistance of Rs 1,900 crore for taking relief operations despite the state government seeking Rs 42,500 crore. “This only indicates the inefficiency of the state government in getting aid from the Centre,” he stated.

Taking serious note of the comments made by Mr Rosaiah, Mr Naidu advised the Chief Minister to behave while talking about prominent leaders.

The TDP chief advised Mr Rosaiah to give proper respect while using language against his political adversaries.

The former chief minister also criticized Mr Rosaiah by saying that the Chief Minister does not know the problems of people as he was not an elected member of the Assembly.

He asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi to visit the state and see the inefficient administration which has gone from bad to worse as the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues have failed to govern it properly.

Mr Naidu alleged that the state has failed to attract investments and investors are going to other states due to wrong policies adopted by the state government and officials’ indifferent attitude.
