Telangana Rashtra Samiti Leader K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure that Reliance Industries supplies adequate gas for the 2,100 MW AP Genco proposed power plant in Karimnagar district.

In his letter, KCR said that the 2,100 MW Karimnagar Gas based combined cycle power plant was originally proposed to use Natural gas as fuel.

The project was subsequently deferred as the officials found it difficult to obtain natural gas in large quantities.

KCR reminded the Prime Minister through his letter that the state government has accorded approval in principle in February 2010, to take up Karimnagar Gas Power Station using Reliance Liquefied Natural Gas as fuel for the first module of 700 MW.

The TRS chief also pointed out that a foundation stone for the 1st block of 700 MW Unit was laid by Chief Minister K Rosaiah last February.

KCR, apart from the letter to the Prime Minister, has also written to Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora, requesting him to ensure adequate supply of gas from Reliance for the power project. In this letter, KCR pointed out that the Ministry of Environment and Forests has accorded environmental clearance for the proposed project.
