Government whip Sake Shailajanath on Wednesday criticised Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for attempting to corner the government on ‘filmsy’ grounds.

Mr Shailajanath told media persons at the CLP office that the former chief minister has no moral right to question the government on scholarship of students, since the TDP had failed to release scholarship for students.

He said the Congress government has sanctioned scholarships for 31 lakh students in the state. However, during the TDP regime’s days in power, the government had sanctioned scholarships for not more than six lakh students, he pointed out.

Naidu has no moral right to comment on reimbursement of fee, BC hostels and government welfare schemes. “We don’t want to learn any lessons from Naidu. The people are not in a state to believe Naidu statements,” he said.

He asked Naidu to take tuition classes from Chief Minister K Rosaiah daily for half-an-hour over the implementation of welfare schemes and how to manage economy and funds efficiently.

“After seeing the poor performance of TDP government, the people of the state given a fitting reply to him by electing the Congress for the second consecutive time in the elections,” Mr Shailajanath said.

He stated that he has no objection for conducting inquiry on the illegal properties of a few political leaders against whom charges of irregularities have been leveled.

Reacting on the comments of Minister for Mines Balineni Srinivas, Mr Shailajanath said that the High Command would initiate action against violators of party discipline at an appropriate time.

“Though the Congress leaders express divergent opinions on various issues, they are united. However, in TDP there was no control on the leadership,” Mr Sailajanath said. “The TDP is a ship without a captian in command,” he said.
