Dashing Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag announced his retirement from all forms of International cricket. Though his retirement speculations stroked social networking platforms from yesterday, there was no official confirmation until Sehwag made an official statement.

Entry of new and young talents in the form of Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay subsequently filled Sehwag’s place as he played the last test series in 2013 against Australia. Even in ODIs, his poor performance led to severe criticism resulting in dropping from the team.

Sehwag played in 104 Tests scoring 8,586 with an average of 49.34 while he displayed the heroics in 251 ODIs making 8,273 runs at average of 35.05. Most important achievement for Sehwag is scoring of triple centuries against Pakistan in Multan and South Africa in Chennai.
