Rajkumar Hirani Still Writing Script For 3 Idiots Sequel

Director Rajkumar Hirani shared a new update on the 3 Idiots sequel in an interview. He said the script work is still going on, and there is a lot left to do. The story will show what happens to Rancho, Farhan, and Raju after 15 to 20 years. The sequel will not go back to college life. Instead, it will focus on their personal life now. Hirani said the characters are married, have kids, and are going through midlife problems. The film will ask what happens next for them after all those years.
Hirani also confirmed the sequel will carry a strong message like the first film. When asked about it he said yes and called it a big one. The original 3 Idiots was about exam pressure and following dreams. It became a hit because of its mix of comedy and heart. The sequel will try to keep the same humor and emotion. Aamir Khan had also said earlier this year that the story is ready and unusual. He will return as Rancho. The sequel is set about 10 years after the first film.
The first film starred Aamir Khan as Rancho, R Madhavan as Farhan, Sharman Joshi as Raju, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Boman Irani. It spoke against the cutthroat education system and inspired many students. That message made it popular even after many years. Fans have been waiting for a follow-up to see where the three friends are now. The new film will look at friendship, family, and growing older.
While working on 3 Idiots 2, Hirani is also making his streaming debut. His next show is Pritam and Pedro, a dark comedy on cybercrime for JioHotstar. It has Arshad Warsi, Vir Hirani, Mona Singh, and Vikrant Massey in lead roles. So the director is balancing both big-screen and web series work. 3 Idiots fans can expect more updates once the script is ready.
