Christopher Nolan is bringing his new film The Odyssey to India for the first time. Mumbai is confirmed as part of the global premiere tour. The epic movie will premiere at PVR Icon IMAX Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai this July before its worldwide release on July 17 2026. This is a big moment for Indian film fans as Mumbai joins London Paris and New York on the official tour list. Director Christopher Nolan along with stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland and producer Emma Thomas are expected to attend the Mumbai event. There are also reports that Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli may be invited as a special guest though it is not confirmed yet.

The Odyssey is Nolan’s big screen version of Homer’s ancient Greek story. It follows King Odysseus on his long and risky journey home after the Trojan War. Matt Damon plays Odysseus and Anne Hathaway plays his wife Penelope. The cast also has Tom Holland as Telemachus Robert Pattinson as Antinous Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra Zendaya as Athena and Charlize Theron as Calypso. The film shows Odysseus meeting mythical creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus sirens and gods while trying to return to his family.

This film is special because it is the first movie shot fully with new IMAX film cameras. Nolan is known for using new technology in movies like Dunkirk and Oppenheimer. For The Odyssey he shot across many countries using this new IMAX format to capture large scale scenes. The movie will release in IMAX and other premium large formats to give viewers a full visual experience.

The Mumbai premiere shows how important India has become for big global films. Fans are excited to see a Hollywood epic made with IMAX technology in their city. Tickets and event details are expected to be announced soon. The Odyssey aims to bring the scale of Greek mythology to modern audiences with strong performances and grand visuals.
