These Big Films Seek Exemption From Percentage System

Tollywood is seeing a new debate about percentage sharing in theatres. Single screen owners want to start a percentage system for all films. In this system, the theatre and the film team share the ticket money based on a fixed rate. But producers of 17 big films are asking for a break from this rule. They say these are huge budget films and the old rental system works better for them. Talks are going on between producers, distributors, and exhibitors. The final decision will affect many films in 2026 and 2027.

The 17 film list has all top stars. Ram Charan’s Peddi, Nani’s The Paradise, and Venkatesh-Trivikram’s AK47 are in it. Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara and Balakrishna’s 111th film are also asking for relief. Prabhas has two films in the list, Fauji and Spirit. Rajamouli Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi, Prashanth Varma’s Jai Hanuman, and NTR-Prashanth Neel film are included too. Allu Arjun has RaaKa and AA23. Chiranjeevi-Bobby film, Ram Charan’s RC17, and Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 are also there. Nani-Sujeeth film and Venkatesh-Anil Ravipudi film complete the list.

Producers say these films have high cost and need big returns in the first week. The rental model gives them sure money to cover costs. With the percentage system, the income depends on public response each day. If a film slows down after day three, the team may lose money. Single screen owners say the percentage system is fair and helps small films too. They want one rule for all films. The film chamber is trying to find a middle path. A few meetings have already happened in Hyderabad.

The next few weeks are key for this issue. If these 17 films get relief, other big films may ask for the same. This can change how Tollywood does business. Fans are watching the news closely because it may affect ticket rates and release dates. The industry hopes for a quick solution that helps both producers and theatre owners. More updates will come after the next round of talks.
