Devagudi directed by Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy is releasing on 30 Jan 2026. The film stars Abhinav Shaurya, Thoshi Alahari & Anushri in the lead roles. Devagudi OTT rights are yet to be finalised and it will inked at a later date. Let us find out what the film offered to movie lovers.
Devagudi story revolves around a faction-based family who is staunchly protected by his trusted aide from their enemies and the happenings in his life and how he overcomes the difficult situation. Dharma (Abhinav Shourya) works under the influential family headed by Veera Reddy (Raghu Kunche) who is respected in Devagudi and who is under the constant threat from his enemies like Kondreddy (Raghu Babu) and others.
Dharma shares good bonding with Veera Reddy's son Raghava Reddy (Narasimha Toshi), daughter Swetha(Anusri). Where their relations lead to and how it impacts the lives of Subhadra (Rajasri Nair), Laxman (Lakshman Meesala) and others form rest of the narration.
Abhinav Shourya came up with an impactful performance. He showed good expressions and emotions and came up with variations according to the situation. He enacted stunts with ease and sported a rugged and mass look to make an impact.
Raghu Kunche played a completely different role. He sported a different avatar and with his dialogue delivery and screenpresence along with his experience carried the scenes taking the film forward.
Anusri is good in the role of the female lead while Narasimha Toshi played the role of the friend with ease. Others like Rajasri Nair, Annapurna, Raghu Babu, Lakshman Meesala performed according to their roles.
Devagudi story is penned by Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy. He came up with a typical faction entertainer and he drew inspiration from many earlier hit films. Viewers were witness to many such films and they find nothing new in the film. However, he generated interest with an interesting start.
He kept the interest levels of the viewers intact for the major part of the first half. The first half included intense elements and the action sequences are well choreographed and executed on the screen. The first half ends with a predictable twist setting the stage for the second half.
The second half, however, narration nosedives with disjoint screenplay and confusing elements. Everything is shown in a haphazard manner, and the logics were missed manytimes. What surprises all is the protagonist goes missing completely. Finally, the film ends with the first half intensity getting completely diluted in the second half.
Lakshmi Kanth Kanike's cinematography is good. He showed the scenes in a natural and realistic manner. Nagi Reddy's editing is is ok in the first half but went awry in the second half. There are many repetitive scenes and drags that impacted the flow of the narration. Music of Madeen SK is just ok. He kept in mind the commercial elements and came up with one item song, one festival song and a romantic song. His background score added value to the narration. Production values are good.
Altogether, Devagudi turns out to be an outdated faction story. Abhinav Surya comes with an impactful performance and did justice to his role. However, director Bellam Ramakrishna Reddy came up with the tried and tested faction story and it lacked the freshness and novelty. He drew inspiration from many earlier hit films and offered nothing new. Had he come up with a new idea and worked on the script, things would have been different. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Devagudi.
