Akkineni Nagarjuna on Wednesday handed over a donation of Rs. 2 crore to ANR College, Gudivada, to fund scholarships for deserving students. The contribution came during the institution’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, underscoring the actor’s commitment to education.
Nagarjuna attended the event as chief guest and inaugurated the college’s new building. He also paid homage to his father, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), who had donated Rs. 1 lakh to the same college back in 1959. “My father, though not formally educated, had a deep love for education. He worked to brighten the future of thousands,” Nagarjuna said, announcing the Rs. 2 crore scholarship fund.
Prominent dignitaries graced the ceremony, including Naga Susheela, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Gudivada MLA Venigandla Ramu, and others. The gathering celebrated ANR College’s rich legacy, which was established in 1950 and now continues to empower students through generous philanthropy.
The college administration expressed gratitude for Nagarjuna’s gesture, noting that the scholarship will benefit countless learners. This act of social welfare reinforces the family’s long standing association with the institution. Nagarjuna’s Rs. 2 crore donation is set to create lasting impact, inspiring future generations and preserving his father’s vision of educational uplift.
