The Tamil Nadu Police has denied permission for TVK (Tamil Vetri Kazhagam) chief and actor Vijay's planned road show in Erode on December 16, citing concerns over a potential stampede. The police estimate around 75,000 people could attend, making crowd management a challenge. Permission for a meeting in a function hall was also rejected.

This decision follows a tragic stampede at one of Vijay's election rallies in Karur in September, which claimed 41 lives. The incident is now under a CBI probe ordered by the Supreme Court. Authorities are taking precautions to avoid a repeat, emphasizing safety measures.

In contrast, Vijay is allowed to hold a rally in Puducherry on December 17, but with strict conditions: only 5,000 local residents, QR-coded passes, segregated enclosures for 500 people each, and no entry for outsiders. Vulnerable groups like children and elderly are barred. Parking is restricted, and the event must end by 12:30 PM.

With TVK expanding its political presence, Vijay’s next steps are keenly watched. The party had sought a roadshow, but narrow roads prompted the police denial. Safety remains the priority as preparations continue for the Puducherry rally.
