Nandamuri Balakrishna, the renowned Telugu actor, was felicitated with a shawl by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) ceremony in Goa. The event was attended by Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. 

Balakrishna received this honor on completing 50 years as an actor, a milestone he achieved last year. The IFFI, India's largest international film festival, is a platform that showcases global and Indian films, short films, and documentaries.

Balakrishna's acting career spans over five decades, with his debut in the 1974 film "Tatamma Kala" and his first lead role in the 1984 film "Sahasame Jeevitham". He has acted in over a hundred films, playing diverse roles, and is known for his exceptional dialogue delivery. Some of his notable works include "Narasimha Naidu," "Chennakesava Reddy," "Aditya 369," "Legend," "Gautamiputra Satakarni," "Akhanda," and "Bhagwant Kesari."

Balakrishna's contributions to the film industry have earned him numerous accolades, including the Padma Bhushan award this year. He is also the chairman of Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, providing quality treatment to thousands of cancer patients annually. 

Balakrishna's latest film, "Akhanda 2," directed by Boyapati Srinu, is set to release on December 5, and he is currently busy with its promotions.
