The Independence Day weekend witnessed a massive box office clash between Rajinikanth's "Coolie" and Hrithik Roshan - NTR's "War 2". The holiday advantage gave both films a big push, but weekday trends suggest that "Coolie" is holding a stronger edge. Globally, "Coolie" has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark and headings towards 450 crores, while "War 2" os around 320 crores globally. The mix of action, drama, and Rajinikanth's screen presence has made "Coolie" a festival like release for fans.
"Coolie" tells the story of Deva, a former union leader seeking truth behind his friend's demise, while "War 2" features Hrithik Roshan returning as Kabir and Jr NTR joining the spy universe.
