The recent films Kubera and Kannappa have garnered attention for their lengthy runtime, both clocking in at over three hours. Interestingly, both films underwent trimming before their release, with one song removed from each movie. Both the films submitted lengthy versions to censor and trimmed when finally they made into the theatres.

Kubera, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, was released on June 20th and collected more than Rs. 100 crore gross. The original version of Kubera submitted to the censor board was over three hours and fifteen minutes long. The censor board for Kubera asked the makers to mute some dialogues and delete one or two scenes.

However, it was the makers who voluntarily removed the song and some scenes to reduce the length. However, the makers themselves deleted a song and some scenes to reduce the length. The removed song, "Pippee Pippee Dum Dum" was a three-and-a-half-minute number featuring Rashmika Mandanna. The final version of the film was locked at 3 hours and 2 minutes.

Similarly, Kannappa, which was released a week after Kubera, also underwent trimming. The film's original length was over three hours and fifteen minutes, but the theatrical version was reduced to three hours and three minutes. The censors expressed objections to some conversations and a scene where the villain cuts off the hero's head. The makers also removed a nearly four-minute-long song about greatness of tribes and reduced the length of some action scenes in the first half.

When Kubera and Kannappa are eventually streamed on OTT platforms, viewers will have the opportunity to watch the full films without any edits.
